Okay, I admit it that when I first read a post by Fuat Kircaali, CEO of Sys-Con Media pronouncing PR as extinct, my blood began to boil. Why? Because PR is my livelihood and passion, and his stance was the equivalent of calling my baby ugly.
Seriously - in his post, Kircaali blogs:
In our estimation, roughly 70% of today’s PR firms with their traditional public relations and communications business structures will not survive the fast-approaching social media avalanche.
Interestingly enough, Kircaali doesn’t care to share how he arrived at this “estimation.” Red flag number one. Later, he goes on to assert that those PR agencies that don’t use Ulitzer, his new self-publishing site, will soon be out of business. Red flag number two.
