Social Media Club - San Antonio

If you get it, share it

Group, time to chime in!

This is your group, your show, and all of us have attachments to a different professional sector based on our own networks. What's the word out there? What questions are people asking and what topics are hot button topics?

I'd like to hear what the community wants to hear SMC tackle. We may not be experts, but getting a panel, guest speaker, or even just a discussion to raise awareness is what we do. Share with us what matters to you and your network here and let's get some stuff on the calendar.

This professional group has a lot of great talent and I'm sure we've all got ideas bubbling in our heads.

Is this appropriate for this forum?
Tactical Technology Collective has put together a great book Maps for Advocacy: An Introduction to Geographical Mapping Techniques (http://www.tacticaltech.org/mapsforadvocacy). Use of maps in the political and activism space is growing and very successful. —GregElin, Sunlight Foundation.

That is something I am very interested in.

Interesting topic. Social Media Club just finished covering the San Antonio Mayoral elections. If you're on Twitter, lookup hashtag #savotes, and follow some of our members and the community as we covered the election live from the San Antonio Current HQ. Politics and technology have definitely merged more than ever in the last two years. Politics have gone beyond just featuring the candidate on a website.

Great topic, if you can suggest speakers or perhaps give us some ideas, we can put a panel together for a future meeting. I think you selected a great topic!

Let me get moved to San Antonio and then the forum can grow from there ... and I think looking at SA through a geocentric lens would be a ton of fun
