Event Description

The Weston Wright - Lighting the Way 5K Walk/Run will benefit the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind High School to Work Transition Program for blind youth ages 16 to 21. This year, the SALB will be holding a 5K run/walk on Saturday, September 26, 2009. All proceeds from the event will benefit the SALB High School to Work Transition Program for Blind and visually impaired youth in our community. Although visually impaired and sighted youth have similar hopes and dreams for a successful future, blind and visually impaired students face unique challenges in the areas of education and employment. The goal of the High School to Work Program is to help these students overcome the challenges posed by their disabilities and gain the independence and skills necessary to become productive members of the workforce
